COAST 2 COAST

Løkken at the North Sea
Sup ladies and gents. Elder Mod back at it again from Lockdown. Let's dive in. Sorry if this email is short.

This was supposed to be my first full week in Aalborg buttttt that changed rather quickly. I'll get there in a sec but I had a DOPE experience with Ældste Farr. We are allowed to drive out to cool spots in our area and we have a car.... soooooo... we went to this awesome beach town up in northern Denmark. We were going to go to one that is called Cold Hawaii, but it was too far, so we went to a beach called Løkken and saw a bunch of old boats and German beach bunkers from the second World War. They were crazy and we had a way fun time exploring. I took my shoes and socks off to walk in the sand. Let me say it felt so nice! Now I can say I have been to the North Sea as well. That's pretty dope. Way cool town. Way awesome vibe. Way awesome sunset on the beach.

Not much else happened. We taught a couple of phone lessons and studied Genesis in the Bible, hahah.

Teaching my cousins and aunt and uncle. It was so fun!
We got a text Sunday morning that said that we will be moving to another set of elders' apartment for 2 weeks. I had just gotten used to Aalborg and it was sad to leave. But I'm happy to be in a 4-man. More people to talk to is always nice. Now I'm in a place called Herning for at least 2 weeks with Elders Appleby (from Australia), Langmann (from Germany) and Farr (North Carolina) so we all have different accents which is funny. Multi-cultural you could say.

I also had the great chance to FaceTime my cousins and teach them the restoration. That was awesome and for sure the highlight of the week!

Have a good one y'all. Study up for Conference and prepare for it. I know y'all have time.

Love from Denmark,
Ældste Modersitzki

Can't forget the car they drove.

Sneezed on the beat and the beat got sickerrr

TP King Mod (hit me up if you need some...
Maybe I should give out a Book of Mormon with these)
Hey everybody! I'm still alive, well, and not home yet. Hopefully it stays that way!

This week was pretty uneventful so sorry if this is a little dry. I'll try to spice it up! I've got some big news though so just stay with me.

The first couple of days this week were very difficult to find motivation and desire to stay out here. It is still hard, but finding happiness in the little things has really helped (even if that happiness is just a nice treat or the sun coming out). The weather has been very nice the last couple of days and that has been awesome except we can't contact or knock soooo not as awesome, but the sun helps a lot.

Last day with Ældste Laurence
We got a crazy call Thursday morning from the APs saying that all missionaries who will be finishing their missions at the end of this transfer will be leaving now. Of course that didn't apply to me or Ældste Laurence so we were like okay, that's cool. What else? I got told that I would be emergency transferring to a different area the very next day. I was honestly in shock and denial. Randers was home. I loved it so very much and I was sad to leave it and the people there as well. Marie was doing well and we were having phone conversations with her and she is loving the Book of Mormon so much. I was sad to say goodbye to her as well as Shelly and Niels. I had to say goodbye to some members too. I loved this branch too much not to. They were a big help to me and I will miss them so much. But we gotta move on bc I gotta move on. Let's talk about my new area, Aalborg. I am now with Ældste Farr. He was part of my Copenhagen trio and I love him. He is awesome and I'm excited for this next little while. He came to Aalborg at the beginning of the transfer... so like 2 weeks before I did, and church has been canceled for like half of that, so we are basically white washing the third/fourth biggest city in Denmark. It should be an adventure. We already have had some phone calls and Skype lessons and those have gone well. I'm just happy to be here tbh. It's good. I'm still on lockdown and Denmark has stopped testing people for the Coronavirus unless they have bad symptoms soooo that means that the numbers are whack. This country is getting sicker and sicker for sure.

Me and the Koch bros
But I want to end this on a spiritual note because I'm not as able to share my testimony here so I will share it with y'all!
I know God looks out for us and plants little things in our path to help us. He loves us so much and that is why he sent His Son to die for our sins. He is the way, the light, and the life. The Book of Mormon is true and no matter what arguments anyone has against it, they cannot disprove its divine authenticity. God's church on earth is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Shout out to all my friends coming home right now. Prayers up for you! Also big shout out to my cousin Chase! Welcome home!

Love y'all have a good week.

Locked-downnnnnnn

FaceTiming members for our spiritual thought after they
delivered dinner to us. I am so grateful for them!
Good day everyone. Ya boy Mod back again. This week has been the most nuts but also most boring week in history. Let's start with the news that I know you all want to know. I got locked down on Thursday morning, which means that I can still go outside and walk around and go to the grocery store, but we can't go do any missionary work in person. That is odd because all we usually do is find people to teach soooooo this gonna be tough. I have started reading the Bible, playing the guitar and just trying to use my time wisely. The temple here is closed and so is pretty much my entire mission. I have read all of the Pearl of Great Price and I'm just grinding my studies and Duolingo hahah. Denmark's border is closed to non-Danish citizens, Germany's border is closed to non-German citizens and the airport is closed. I am pretty sure that flights have all been cancelled so I really think that I might be stranded. Denmark has about 1000 cases of Coronavirus and it is still growing. I am not worried about my health though.

We went out for a run and that was really nice. I am in better shape than ever before since I got to Denmark. We also got to play some basketball this week for a while and man that felt sooooo good. I couldn't believe how bad I was, but it was also a like nine-foot hoop so I will blame it on that, haha.

The finding view on a nice day.
Spring is kicking in. The trees are blooming a little bit and so are the bushes. It is weird because I have never seen any kind of life in Randers. It has been only winter while I have been here.

We are allowed to teach a little bit under certain conditions so we were able to teach our guy Kevin. He had some questions that we were able to answer and he wanted to do some Book of Mormon studies as well. We were able to give him some stuff to think about and we asked him to pray about it. Hopefully he does it. Marie cancelled our appointment this week and so did Shelly and Niels, so that was rough, but we were able to meet with two guys from Jamaica. We talked with them and got their stories and got to get to know them better.  That was way fun. We will be visiting them whenever we can because they seem to love it.

I nearly shed a tear in the supermarket today as I found some salt and vinegar chips. I have been craving them really bad for about 3 weeks. It was such a bigggg blessing. Like it was so nice. They taste so good. I am still thinking about them.
The burger count this week was a fat 0 so we are on that health grind, and I only had one kebab. We chilled with the ZLs and APs as we got our 14 days worth of food/ emergency kit. They are a lot of fun to hang out with.

Thursday was a tough day because we got the call that we would be locked down and that Ældste Cook would be going home because of his asthma and that was very hard for me. He is for sure my best friend right now and it was hard to see him go. Hopefully we get him back soon.

Have a good one and send ideas for me to do!

Country Boy Mod

Hey everybody! Ya Boi mod, here again with that fire Denmark update. Not much time today so let's dive in.

First off, I ate no Burger Shack, so that's good for my health, but I did eat at another place called Burger Boom and it was pretty nice. And it was a free burger and fries bc we are homies with the owner.... Yuhhhh.

We were eating a kebab (if you know you know) down in the city and we saw our guy Kevin outside so we ran up to him and talked to him for a little while and ended up going back to his apartment and talking about friendly stuff and then religion came up and of course we were testifying and all that and I realized how much I really knew to be true. I didn't feel like anything said to me could really shake my testimony of the gospel being THE only true and living gospel of Jesus Christ on earth today.

There was a dope street food place that opened up this last week and I had a BOMB pulled pork sandwich/ Cuban. Oh baby it was nice. No one needs to fear, I'm eating well out here.

Now to even that out we ran a 28:20 5k this week. We are hitting that consistently under 30, so that is nice.

On Saturday so we took a quick bike ride out to this small place called Lem. It gave me some Bancroft, Idaho vibes so I was in my happy place out in the country in all the fields and all that good stuff. I'll include some pics for sure.

We got a chance to teach Marie and her kids again this last week. The Plan of Salvation went over well. They like us a lot and we are going to play basketball with them on Saturday (hopefully) so we are psyched for that! Marie and Wahida both came to church again too. They are consistent for sure!

We also found an electric guitar shop and played some electric guitar for a little. That was honestly so fun to whip out a Sweet Home Alabama right in front of a confused Danish man.

Thirty-two... THIRTY-TWO?!

Tate and Ældste Laurence are with a family who is related
to our neighbors here in Highland. It's such a small world!
Howdy! Mod back out here! I'm staying in Randers for another 6 weeks and I am way happy about it!

We are gonna start this boy with some spirituality, but also with some fun stuff too. We had a lesson with Marie on Tuesday. We were scrambling to find a third member and then we remembered that Oliver (one of our dope members) served his mission in Africa so we made that connection and brought him. He killed it and the spirit was testifying all about the plan of salvation and its truthfulness. So yeah, Marie had no objections... especially when we told her that we could live with our families for eternity. She was way down for that. Quite honestly she was way down for everything we said... She is very prepared for this gospel. At the end she goes, "Elders, this is exactly what my kids need to hear! Will you come back and teach some basic principles to them? They will be here on Friday." We were like uhhhhh YEAH! So we died a little bit because we were so excited and then when we came back we were expecting just Marie and her 10 year old son... When we pulled up with our member and walked in. She had brought all three of her sons (10, 8, 4) and her boyfriend who lives in Finland who she wants referred to the missionaries up there..... We were like uhhhhhh WAHOO. We taught another fire lesson about God's plan and the member came in so clutch with stories and examples.... Just straight fire overall. The kids love America too and they wanna hang out with us and play basketball with us! We of course said yes to that hahah. After the lesson we got a text from Marie saying that her oldest son really likes us. I was so happy about that!

We had another lesson with our other friend Wahida on Saturday (whatta day just y'all wait) and God blessed us with a member that could make it to the lesson because we could not find ANYONE that was free. But she pulled up and we re-taught the restoration to her and she enjoyed it. She is very good at doing the challenges that we ask her to do. She is awesome too!

On Friday we had district meeting and it was BOMB. Sister Smith was going home so she gave our training for that day. She shared a song called Different by Micah Tyler and it hit hard man. I loved it immediately. It is soooo good, I suggest looking that up. Ældste Laurence was also feeling generous and bought everyone some Randers Kebab because it is supposedly the best kebab in the mission. That tasted so good!

Burger Shack count this week: 1, not too shabby. The Skive Elders were in town so you know we had to grab some.

It snowed this week and I was dying because it covered all of the cars and everything. Who would've thought? Also it is very warm today, like almost 50, so I was happy about that. My eyes aren't used to the sun when it is out haha. But I love when it is.

You can't tell, but these elders are soaking wet from biking
16 miles through a rainstorm in the dark. So worth it though.
Let's get to Saturday, it was crazy town. First we had transfer calls and we are both staying!  Then we had an eating appointment with some people that are related to the Ballams back home for breakfast at 9 AM and that was way fun and went very well, mostly just making friends with them. They are such nice people. Immediately after we went to the church to plan our lesson with Wahida and then we finished up our lesson at around 12ish. We went home, ate lunch and studied until like 2 or 3ish and then hit the bikes. We had an eating appointment and lesson with a part-member family that lives in a place called Sonder Onsild... 16 Miles away... Our bikes have batteries so we get some assistance, but if they die we are screwed. They are so heavy. So we plan it out and bike over there. Our batteries stay alive the whole way out there and of course we charge them at the family's house while we knock for half an hour and come back for dinner. We found a bro while knocking too so we might be doing this bike ride more often. The bike ride there was incredible, rolling hills and farmland as far as the eye could see. It reminded me of Idaho a little bit with the smell of manure and amount of tractors. I was in paradise. We taught this lesson about the book of Mormon, the spirit, and faith and it was spirit led for sure. We even got to help the member out with her concerns, and had some way good Mexican food mmmhhmmm. They also had a cat so I had a small allergic reaction but we pushed through bc the church is true. Then we biked back... 16 more miles in pouring rain and pitch black darkness. Our flashlights from our bikes were the only lights for a good long while. The wind was gnarly too but it was a lot of fun. We got SOAKED. My shoes are still wet from that and it has been 2 days haha. I loved it. It was one of the first times I have realized how much I really do LOVE Denmark.

We also had stake conference and it was good but I was mostly just happy to hang out with Cook and Jensen. It is nice to see a lot of missionaries!

I finished Jesus the Christ this week and I gotta say that is a 10\10 would read again. I understand Christ more than I ever did before that book. Then I started the book Our Search for Happiness by Elder Ballard and I came across a section that talked about eternal families and marriages and I just had the most overwhelming feeling that I would be with my family forever and that it was a true doctrine from God. I was like sheesh I believed it before but it was a whole new level!

Sorry for the long email but a lot happened sooooo until next week,
-Ældste Modersitzki

Just for the record, Tate never got this excited
to see snow on cars when he was at home.
He cracks me up!
